International buyers win battle during successful foal auction

“I am very satisfied”, says Koos Poppelaars about the first foal auction of this season by Global Dressage Auction. Never before have so many foals been sold. Tonight’s most expensive foal was the Jovian son Testkees DDL. For 17,000 euros, he will face a future in America.

“We are very pleased that the focus on the international market is paying off. Three-quarters of the sold foals fly across the Dutch borders. Our strategy is to make these top dressage genes available worldwide and we more than succeeded tonight.”

“Super foal”
The Jovian son Testkees DDL raised the counter to 17,000 euros. An American bidder had the final bid. Koos spoke to her after the auction. “She really wanted a foal from Jovian and she thought this was a super foal.” She also bought another foal, the Glock’s Toto Jr. daughter Trustfallana T for 13,000 euros. “She already rides a seven-year-old gelding from this dam line and that is why she wanted to invest in this filly. It is great to see that this new customer was immediately successful tonight. And on the other hand, it is fantastic for our contributors that we have sold well, that is ultimately what we do it for.”

80% sold
In total, 80 percent of the lots were sold tonight and three-quarters of them are going abroad. In addition to this American buyer, there were buyers from Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland. “Next to international customers, we also sold foals to earlier buyers in the Netherlands and we have welcomed new Dutch customers. We had a really good auction tonight.”

Next auction
The next foal auction is scheduled from 21 to 24 September. The photo and video day for this new collection will take place on Wednesday 30 August at the familiar location of Stoeterij VZ Hackerom. “There is already a lot of interest, and I have already been able to select some very nice foals. I look forward to the next auction”, Koos Poppelaars concludes.
